As an interdisciplinary academic, my research centres on political economy; international development; civil society and regulatory governance; transnational social movements; global visual media; citizenship and politics; and comparative political regime and development. At its core, my research seeks to answer the question: how do the recent global socio-political, economic and technological changes explain current forms of transnational activism; state-society relations; political development; and citizenship in the Global South, especially Southeast Asia, and how the region interacts and copes with the global change? These questions shape the way I have developed my short and long-term research agendas.
